Simple green beans can be a staple at any meal, all year long. But if you sprinkle a few sliced almonds on top, they become holiday fare! That’s all there is to these Holiday Green Beans. Just take the green beans you enjoy all year (you do like green beans, don’t you?), add a few almond slices as garnish, and presto, they’re fancy enough for a holiday dinner. Now, wasn’t that easy? If you really want to look like you know what you’re doing in the kitchen, you can add a sprinkle of chopped, fresh dill. Now you’re just showing off.

Holiday Green Beans

By December 22, 2014

Ingredients

  • fresh green beans, rinsed and ends trimmed - 1 lb
  • sliced almonds (optional) - 1 Tbs

Instructions

  1. Place the beans in a large pot over high heat. Add enough water to cover. Bring to a boil and cook until desired tenderness is reached. For us that's about 20 minutes or so, depending on the freshness of the beans. Drain, and salt to taste.
  2. To serve, sprinkle the sliced almonds on top, if using.
